The 1820s dress, that is :)

Three weeks to go!

The skirt back is sewn. Just ties, pad in back and belt left, none of which will be done tonight.

Let's make Thursday the finishing goal...

Front apron of skirt is sewn on, back is pleated, gauged, and pinned. I didn't expect that tonight! And I should probably go to bed...

Trim is on, front panel is pinned to the front waistband, and the bodice waistband has been bled on. Not bad for a day's work...

It was a little tricky deciding just how to place my pattern on the fabric, but I think it worked well!

Skirt seams on the plaid 1820s. I can do those tonight. The bodice is done except for trim :)

Not setting them, that doesn't bother me because sleeve wrinkles don't bother me.

I just spent way too long drafting and being dumb about sleeve design and it's probably still weird. Whatever. They're cut in silk!

So, the beads not working for my knitting meant starting the 1820s dress today. Probably a very good thing!

Anyway, it's going to be apron front, like this dress at the Met and this dress at the MetThe sleeves are going to be based on the second. With half the buttons, as I only have eight molds. I love these sleeves--it really looks like the ( Read more... )
